Luciana F. Mu\u00f1iz,<\/strong> de la <em>Facultade de Medicina da Universidade de Sao Paulo <\/em>en Brasil, los investigadores evaluaron la frecuencia de s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lico y los factores relacionadas con enfermedades o el tratamiento en 103 pacientes premenop\u00e1usicas con LES (&lt;40 a\u00f1os) y 35 mujeres premenop\u00e1usicas sanas de edad similar.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigaores encontraron que el s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lico fue significativamente m\u00e1s com\u00fan entre las mujeres con lupus en comparaci\u00f3n con las voluntarias sanas (22% frente a 5%). Dentro de este grupo el SM era m\u00e1s frecuente en las enfermas de LES con actividad renal y con dosis altas de prednisona acumulada. Se observ\u00f3 que la cloroquina se us\u00f3 con menos frecuencia en las pacientes de lupus con s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lico en m\u00e1s casos (65% frente a 90%) .<\/p>\n<p>Esto lleva a los autores a concluir que la cloroquina tiene un efecto protector sobre la prevalencia del s\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lico en estas pacientes y que este beneficio contrarresta el efecto nocivo de los glucocorticoides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lupusgalicia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/medica.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone
